As you can see in this picture, part of the so called "mine trail" in Brigham Fork cuts through several shale beds. This former rail alignment was constructed in the late 1800s, and has had little to no maintenance since then. The trail is still in very good shape in the shaley sections.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Shale also provides a challenging surface for mountain biking.
